TEMPO Interactive, Blitar:The Blitar Legislative Council (DPRD) discovered that abortion pills were being freely sold the region. These pills are suspected to be marketed for teenagers who often have free sex. "They purchase the pills without a doctor's prescription," said Panoto, a member of Education and Social Welfare Commission, yesterday.
Based on a report he received, the abortion pills are priced at Rp200.000 a piece and can be easily purchased at a number of pharmacies in Nglegok sub district in Blitar.
Blitar Health Office chief, Kuspardani, said he had just heard about this matter. He has instructed the Food and Drugs Monitoring and Counseling Team (TP2MO) to track the marketing of these pills. He said this could only happen because of the TP2MO's lack of oversight. "They only carry out monitoring twice a year," he said.
