The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Thu, 02/05/2009 4:10 PM

As many as 48 primary schoolchildren in Banyuanyar fell ill Thursday after drinking contaminated soymilk.

Half of the children were taken to Brayat Minulya for treatment after their condition worsened, kompas.com reports.

"I bought strawberry-flavored milk for Rp 1,000, and not long after I got dizzy and vomited," fifth grader Azis said.

According to milk seller Hartoto, 38, the soymilk he sold at school had been freshly prepared earlier in the day.

He has been detained by the Surakarta Police for further questioning. (amr)
