The West Sumatera natural disaster mitigation board (Satkorlak) found 50 survivors who managed to stay alive amidst the rubbles on Sunday, four days after the 7.6-magnitude earthquake devastated much of the province.
Tempointeraktif.com reported that the rescue team from Satkorlak discovered the victims at Patamuan district, Agam regency.
Satkorlak coordinator Ade Edward said his team would dispatch a helicopter to evacuate the victims to nearby hospitals in Bukit Tinggi and Padang Panjang.
He added that most victims were suffering from major injuries such as broken bones.
“We will bring them to the hospitals to undergo operations as soon as possible,” he said. (ewd)
