TEMPO Interactive, Purwokerto: Based on a study by the Central Java Health Office’s Laboratory Team, the death of six residents of Sokaraja in Banyumas, was due to the E-coli pathogen and cholera bacteria. “The bacteria concentration was quite high there,” said Banyumas Health Office chief, Widayanto, yesterday.
Widayanto said that the two types of bacteria have killed six people in Pamijen, Sokaraja, last week. He said, the local people’s hygiene waslow. They use river water for everything, to wash clothes, bathe and brush their teeth. Yet, they also throw human waste from septic tanks and household garbage into the river.
