A man fell from the 11th floor of North Jakarta’s Mangga Dua Square shopping mall in the early hours of Friday morning, the third person to plunge to their death in one of the capital’s malls this week.
The 35-year old man was identified as Richard Kurniawan. Police said Richard fell from the seventh floor at around 3:25 a.m. He allegedly visited Sands nightclub before he jumped. The man’s body was taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for an autopsy. His wife was hysterical when she arrived at the hospital.
The family later took his body to Gatot Subroto Hospital for a funeral service. Richard was a resident of Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta.
The body was found by a security officer who reported it to Pademangan Police.
Police are yet to determine whether his death was an accident or a suicide. Police are still gathering information from witnesses and processing the crime scene.
On Monday, Reno, a resident of Patal Senayan in South Jakarta, jumped from the fifth floor of Senayan City mall on Monday night, less than four hours after a 24-year-old woman named Ice Juniar committed suicide from the fifth floor of Grand Indonesia Mall.
