The convicted murderer of human rights activist Munir Said Thalib, Pollycarpus Budihari Priyanto, will get a one-month remission for the Christmas holiday period on Friday.
Pollycarpus, a former Garuda Indonesia pilot, has been incarcerated at Sukamiskin state penitentiary in Bandung since May 23. He is among 340 convicts across West Java who are eligible to get a sentences cut of between 15 and 60 days, tempointeraktif.com has reported.
Kundrat Kasmiri, head of the provincial justice and human rights department for registration and statistics, said on Thursday that 10 convicts would be released from prison after getting the remission.
Data from the department shows that there are 15,140 convicts serving their sentences in the province. Two hundred of them were convicted in corruption cases.
“But none of them will get remission for this holiday season,” Kundrat said. (ewd)
