A Chinese woman named Sun Guofang gave her husband Li Fangdong the biggest Valentine's Day present ever by donating part of her liver to him in Jinan, Shandong province, reports our Chinese-language sister paper Want Daily.

Their blood types were a match, which is rare, as only one in 100,0000 couples are a blood match.

Sun said she was desperate to save the life of her 33-year-old husband after he was diagnosed of uremia, a disease that his mother died of recently. Sun said she wants her husband to live so that he can see their four-year-old son grow up.

Li and his father tried to prevent her and Li even said a few harsh words in order to stop her but to no avail. Sun went to hospital see if she was a match for Li and says that the week she waited for the test results was the longest she had ever been through, she said.

Li was deeply touched by her actions. He never bought her any clothes over their six-year marriage and sold her jewelry that he bought for her for their wedding in order to treat his mother's illness. Li has not prepared any gift for his wife for Valentine's Day either, but has received a liver as a gift.

Sun said that him being alive is the best Valentines' Day present.
