Two more drug factories found in Batam

BATAM (Jakarta Post): The police have found two more illegal drug processing facilities inside Batam industrial complexes in Riau Islands province, a police official said Wednesday.

The National Police and the National Anti-Narcotics Agency raided four factories in Batam, Riau Islands and one in Jakarta on Oct. 22. Two of the four factories in Batam were located in industrial complexes.

The two factories raided on Sunday were used as warehouses and laboratories to process crystal methamphetamine (meth) or shabu-shabu.

National Police narcotics division director Brig. Gen. Indradi Tanos told a press conference in Batam on Wednesday the two new factories were found in Taiwanese Industrial Complex in Kabil area and in Batu Ampar.

He said in Kabil, the police found 30 sacks, each containing 25 kilos of the raw materials used to make crystal meth. (Fadli)
