Youth urged to get healthy

JAKARTA (Antara): President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Sunday called on the nation's youth to develop a culture of health and the habit of doing physical exercise to become more globally competitive.

The president made the call at the launch of the Indonesian Healthy Youth Movement as a part of Youth Pledge Day celebrations.

"The youth should keep doing physical exercises, maintaining health, being creative, maintaining harmony among them, avoiding narcotics and violent acts as well as avoiding promiscuity to safeguard the future, make them a leading young generation and develop the nation," he said.

The president said his government would continue to carry out programs to keep Indonesians healthy.
