Health ministry orders 33 drugs off Taiwan's shelves

Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare has made public a list of 33 drugs that do not conform to their own description, ordering their removal off the shelves.

The list includes products from a number of major pharmaceutical manufacturers in Taiwan, such as UC Pharma, Nang Kuang Pharmaceutical, Everest Pharm Industrial and Synmosa Biopharma Corp. The manufacturers said that people should not be concerned about the quality of their products, and that the pharmaceutical ingredients were modified due to changes in regulation.

The 33 medicines treat asthma, hypertension, ulcers and also includes pain killers. All are principal products for the pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Nang Kuang Pharmaceutical is the company with the most drugs on the list, with a total of 13. The companies named will now have to test each item before they can go back on the shelves, each experiment reportedly costs between NT$2 million and NT$3 million (US$67,600-$101,400).

Wang Yu-pei, general manager of Nang Kuang Pharmaceutical, said the company always follows government regulations, and goes by the standards set by the country's Food and Drug Administration.

"It is not that the company's 13 items do not conform with their ingredient. It is because of the new CGMP regulations, which require higher manufacturing techniques so that the medicines are more efficient. I hope that manufacturers could have more time to take on the changes," said Wang.

New Map Of Human Genome proves ‘Junk DNA’ Has A Purpose

Prior to new research that was published in late 2012, junk DNA was the term used to describe 97 percent of our DNA. The genetic drivers seat of the human body that is responsible for regulating the activity of  over 20,000 genes has been revealed for the first time by scientists. Before it was believed that our junk DNA had no biological function. It turns out that what we mistook as junk DNA does indeed have a biological function. Keep in mind that junk DNA could have an enormous amount of biological and non biological functions that we have not yet discovered. The project looked at the bulk of genetic material that does not fall under the category of protein-coding genes- the building blocks necessary for life that comprise only two per cent of the human genome.

Researchers from 32 institutions around the world collaborated to determine the hidden messages within the 97 percent of human DNA that was said to have no function. They found that roughly 80 percent of the human genome has at least one biochemical activity associated with it.  I always believed that junk DNA wasn’t really junk DNA, it’s there for a reason. I also believe that DNA is multidimensional and  connected to non-physical phenomenon and other aspects of ourselves which might make it more difficult to understand and measure in a quantitative way.

The studies found a number of hidden switches and signals embedded throughout the entire length of human DNA. All cells within the human body have the same genes, but different cells switch on different kinds of genes. Scientists have always wondered how genes are controlled, and what turns certain ones on and off. Researches collected DNA maps from 349 tissue samples that cover all major organ systems in all stages of human development and contrasted them with genetic studies of more than 300 common diseases.

They found that most diseases that are associated with genetic changes occur within switches that regulate the genes that are said to be located far away from the genes that they control. Basically, the study determined that genetic switches occur within our junk DNA that could be responsible for a range of illnesses. These findings only provide a new view to look through with regards to the role of genetics and genome function in disease. The majority of switches that occur on the DNA molecule are far away from the genes that they control, which makes in very hard to identify them.

Information in our DNA is stored as codes using four different chemical bases, keep in mind that human DNA consists of approximately 3 billion bases. The sequence of these bases determines what information is available as building blocks for maintaining and organism. Just because scientists have identified switches, does not mean they have identified how genes are controlled. We are still a long way from determining that, and this is a very small portion of it. Emotions, feelings, intuition and perception of the environment all play a part. DNA is programmable, certain genes are turned off, and others are turned on. We don’t even know every gene and the function of it. We know very little about anything when it comes to our DNA.

With 2013 here, and looking ahead, I am sure that we will all be experiencing gene activation triggered by a multitude of different switches, but I do not think that gene activation, in this case will lead to disease. I believe new gene activation is a result of the evolution of our consciousness.

We are beginning to open up to different aspects of reality and ourselves. Even the brain allows itself to change its structure and its function. It’s a response to sensing and perceiving the world, even to thinking and imagining. Human thoughts and learning actually turn on certain genes in our nerve cells which allow those cells to make new connections between them. If our thoughts and perception have the ability to do this, who knows what it can do for our DNA that has yet to be activated. Maybe the ‘switches’ have a switch, and maybe the switch is us.

Shanghai air pollution hits 'most severe' level

Smog shrouded the skyline of China's financial hub Shanghai as air pollution in the city hit its worst level on Monday.

Air quality in Shanghai was recorded at 303 on the official Air Quality Index (AQI) on Monday morning, crossing the 300 threshold that indicates the most severe level of air pollution on the chart.

The AQI monitors six pollutants on an hourly basis, including PM2.5, or particles measuring less than 2.5 microns in diameters, which has been widely blamed for the worsening air pollution across China in recent years.

Shanghai's environmental watchdog listed PM2.5 as the major pollutant on Monday, without disclosing detailed readings.

The World Health Organization sets a daily guideline value for PM2.5 at 25 micrograms per cubic meter, while it has been around 10 times this volume in Shanghai in recent days.

Shanghai saw deteriorating air quality over the weekend. The AQI index rose above 230 on Sunday, when the city held its annual Shanghai International Marathon.

The PM2.5 reading also hit 248 micrograms per cubic meter on that day, according to the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau.

The marathon took place as usual despite the heavy pollution. Some participants wore masks.

The dangerous level of pollution has prompted Shanghai authorities to curb industrial production and activities at construction sites and docks that may add dust to the air. Citizens are advised to stay indoors.

Sydney — A contraceptive pill for men has moved one step closer after Australian researchers successfully made male mice infertile, according to a study published Tuesday.

Monash University scientists genetically modified mice to block two proteins found on the smooth muscle cells which are essential for sperm to travel through the animal's reproductive organs.

The result was that even though the mice had sex normally and were otherwise healthy, they were infertile, researcher Sabatino Ventura from Melbourne's Monash University said.

"We've shown that simultaneously disrupting the two proteins that control the transport of sperm during ejaculation causes complete male infertility," Ventura said.

"But without affecting the long-term viability of sperm or the sexual or general health of males. The sperm is effectively there, but the muscle is just not receiving the chemical message to move it."

Ventura, who collaborated with researchers from the University of Melbourne and Britain's University of Leicester on the study, now wants to replicate the genetic process chemically, and believes a male contraceptive pill could be possible in about 10 years.

"The next step is to look at developing an oral male contraceptive drug, which is effective, safe, and readily reversible," he said.

The findings, published in the US journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, show that the absence of two proteins in mice caused infertility, without affecting the long-term viability of the sperm, sexual behaviour, or the health of the animals.

Previous attempts to develop a male contraceptive pill have focused on hormones or producing dysfunctional sperm -- methods which can interfere with male sexual activity and cause long-term and potentially irreversible effects on fertility.

Ventura said because his approach was non-hormonal and did not impact on the development of sperm, a drug which switched off the two proteins should not have any long-term side effects and could be reversed once the man stopped taking it.

"It would block the transport of sperm and then if you're a young guy and you get to the stage where you wanted to start fathering children, you stop taking it and everything should be okay," he told broadcaster ABC.

"It would be like an oral medication probably taken daily just like the female contraceptive pill."

On a lighter note, we interrupt the life and death discussion of Humans to talk about animals. There are the questions not asked, but laying there, of which you are more than curious. "Dear Kryon," it has been asked, "do animals reincarnate?"...

Again, the Human Being looks at animals as one word that covers trillions of entities on the planet. You believe that all of them either do or don't reincarnate, and you want one answer for them all. What if I was from another planet and communicated to you this question: "What color are animals? I want one answer, please." You'd laugh, and wonder what kind of singular consciousness I might have in my reality to ask such a thing.

So I say to you regarding your reincarnation question: Which ones? "You mean there's a difference, Kryon?" Oh, yes! We've already gone over the purpose of animals on the planet. We've told you many things about animals. We've told you that some of them are actually designed to be eaten, and they come for this very purpose. We've indicated to you what's wrong with the way you're treating them, and that you don't honor them in their death, or even as you extract their resources while they're alive. And that, my dear friends, is the reason there's disease in the meat. When you start honoring these animals in their death so that they can create the food that's needed for you, then you'll see the disease disappear.

This is a factor that has yet to be named in your language or your culture - the idea that there's an energy that the Human creates even in the appropriate slaughter of animals for food, the results of which change these animals and the health of the Human who consumes them. Why is it that the indigenous knew about it and you don't? It's an energy that addresses the consciousness of Gaia and the animal kingdom. It addresses the way animals are honored in death.

Animals don't all reincarnate, but some do - if it's appropriate for the Humans around them. Most of the animals on the planet don't reincarnate, but there are a select group and individuals who do, and even a "rule of thumb" that you can apply to those who do and those who don't. When I tell you about the ones who do, you're going to understand a little bit more about the process of who you are. Blessed is the Human Being who walks this planet in lesson: Everything revolves around you! It may not look like it, but it does. Gaia knows who you are when you walk on the dirt! You have a light that you can strike [create] and carry with you that will change the very elements around you. Matter will respond to what you do because you are the angels disguised as Human Beings.

Some of you have selected various animals on earth to be your partners or friends, and you call them pets. Even some of the ones to be slaughtered, if they have a Human who loves them, are pets... if only for a while. These are the ones who reincarnate.

"Why should such a thing be, Kryon? How does that work? Do they have souls? What's the ‘rule' you speak of?" In a way, they do have souls, but not as your souls are structured - not with the lessons your souls carry, or the multiple aspects you have. They're not angels, but they're support entities to those who are [Humans]. When they reincarnate the reason is in honor of the Human Being, you see? Animals, in general, don't last that long on the planet. You might have this beautiful partner, this love essence that you have with an animal pet-friend. Then that animal-friend disappears in death, for again, they don't live that long. The rule of incarnations is, therefore, "If the Human needs it, it happens." So there is a scenario created within the system that helps Humans temper the loss of this love, and we'll give it to you.

When your precious animal-friend dies, go look for another one right away. Don't wait. Don't wait! I'll tell you why. Immediately go looking in places where animal babies are. Make no presuppositions about the kind of animal or the gender. Don't necessarily try to match the one you lost. Instead, go to the places where you intuitively believe the young animals are, and look into their eyes. One of them will be the one... because it - and the Universe - knows intuitively where you're going to look!

This is the system that honors you. Many know this and have said, "I know this is so because when I found this other animal to be my partner and my pet, it started doing the same things that my former animal did - it even responded the same way to me." It's a beautiful system in honor of you. It's an acknowledgment of a broken heart, you see? So you can pick up where you left off.

Some may now ask, "What size animal are we talking about, Kryon? Is there a limit?" We say, there you go again [Kryon smile]. What size do you want? An elephant or a mouse? It doesn't make a difference. If they're loved by you and part of your karmic energy, they'll reincarnate. However, it might be prudent of you to intuitively look for the size of animal that meets your living needs. God doesn't give you an elephant when your mouse dies [laughter].

Sydney — A class action over birth defects linked to the morning sickness drug thalidomide was settled in an Australian court Monday, with the British distributor agreeing to pay victims Aus$89 million (US$81 million).

Lawyers representing some 100 Australian and New Zealand victims of the drug told the Victorian Supreme Court that settlement had been reached with Diageo, which owns now-defunct thalidomide distributor The Distillers Company.

"It has been difficult and challenging litigation but this settlement will now see a group of people receive compensation, a result that goes some distance to finally addressing a very grave historic wrong," said lawyer for the victims, Peter Gordon.

"The result we have achieved today is a vindication of their courage."

Monica McGhie, 50, is among the claimants. She was born without limbs after her mother took thalidomide during pregnancy and said the payout would be life-changing.

"I never thought this day would come," said McGhie. "Life has been a daily struggle for 50 years."

"This settlement will not take that hardship away but it means I can look to the future with more confidence, knowing I can afford the support and care I need."

The Aus$89 million payout, plus Aus$6.5 million in costs, signals an end to the case, with Gordon indicating that an associated compensation suit against German drug manufacturer Grunenthal would be abandoned.

Gordon's co-counsel in the litigation, Michael Magazanik, said victims had been "disgusted" that Grunenthal had refused to contribute to the settlement but noted that the German firm was facing similar suits in the US, Britain and Spain.

"The day is coming when Grunenthal's shocking behaviour in relation to thalidomide is exposed, and the company is forced to face up to the consequences," he said.

He described Monday's settlement as a "tremendous result".

"It is not often that badly injured people can achieve justice 50 years after they were wronged," said Magazanik.

Diageo was created through the 1997 merger of Grand Metropolitan and Guinness and was not directly responsible for distributing thalidomide but had "done the right thing by negotiating this settlement," Gordon said.

"Diageo has behaved in a compassionate fashion, and that should be recognised."

Diageo director Ian Wright said the company had endeavoured to act "responsibly and empathetically" with regard to thalidomide victims and was pleased to have resolved the case out of court.

"We believe that the settlement reached today is both fair and equitable to all involved in this very sensitive and difficult situation," said Wright.

The lawsuit's lead plaintiff, Lynette Rowe, settled her own case against Diageo in July last year for an undisclosed amount and was in court on Monday to hear Gordon's announcement.

Diageo had indicated at the time of Rowe's settlement that it was prepared to negotiate with the rest of the action's claimants.

Rowe was born in 1962 without arms and legs after her pregnant mother took thalidomide. Her legal team claimed Australia had been targeted as a priority market for the drug.

Thalidomide was launched in the late 1950s and was sold in nearly 50 countries before it was withdrawn after babies began showing severe side effects from the drug.

An estimated 10,000 children worldwide were born with deformities, including the absence of arms and legs.

Affidavits sworn last year in the Australian case alleged that Grunenthal was warned of birth defects years before thalidomide was withdrawn from sale and the drug was never tested on gestating animals, with pregnant women its first clinical trial subjects.

Washington — The troubleshooter appointed by President Barack Obama to overhaul a bungled health care website rollout said Sunday that improvements had made a "night and day" difference in handling online traffic.

The White House has admitted previously that the launch of Healthcare.gov, where people can sign up for health insurance, was a debacle and the Obama administration pledged that the vast majority of potential customers would be able to enroll online by the end of November.

Jeffrey Zients, an Obama advisor recently given the job of finding fixes to end the website woes and get the president's signature policy achievement back on track, said technical problems were being overcome.

"The site now has the capacity to handle 50,000 concurrent or simultaneous users at one time ... so the site will support more than 800,000 consumer visits a day," he said during a conference call with reporters.

"We've doubled the system's capacity and Healthcare.gov can now support its intended volume," he added.

Additionally, the website is up and running successfully more than 90 percent of the time -- up from an estimated 42.9 percent through most of October, when people routinely experienced delays or could not gain online access at all.

"The bottom line: Healthcare.gov on December 1 is night-and-day from where it was on October 1," Zients said, citing improvements that include a technical support center monitoring the website 24 hours a day.

Some 400 bugs that were harming the website's operation have been eliminated, he said, though he did not provide data on how many people were signing up for insurance.

"We developed a prioritized punch-list of software fixes, hardware upgrades and user enhancements with the prioritization based on what has the biggest impact on system stability, capacity, speed and user experience," Zients added.

Julie Bataille, communications director for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services said during the call with reporters that 80 percent of users are now able to apply for health insurance successfully on the site.

Healthcare.gov's rollout on October 1 sent Obama's approval rating tanking and pushed some of his fellow Democrats into open revolt, while sparking an opening for gleeful Republicans opposed to healthcare reform.

Only approximately 27,000 people were able to subscribe for insurance via Healthcare.gov in October, according to official figures.

Obama campaigned in 2008 on the promise of insuring some 30 million Americans who lacked health insurance.

On the Sunday morning CBS television show "Face the Nation" Democratic Senator Robert Menendez said the online debacle was "the equivalent of having a great item that you want to buy in the store, but not being able to get through the front door."

"It sounds like the front door's been opened successfully now," he said, referring to Sunday's website update.

The website has been far from Obama's only hitch while implementing the hotly-contested legislation, which was derided by Republicans and only upheld in the US Supreme Court by a narrow 5-4 vote.

On November 14, Obama agreed to change the law to try to help Americans whose insurance plans were canceled because they did not meet the more stringent requirements under the new reforms, after previous promises that no American would lose their existing coverage.

"We are two months into a sustained outreach and education campaign that will continue through the end of March," Bataille said, alluding to the need to raise awareness and get people back online to sign up for new health plans.

Sydney — Myanmar Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi urged greater openness and compassion in the global struggle against AIDS as experts warned against complacency despite falling infection rates.

Suu Kyi, the UNAIDS global advocate for HIV/AIDS victims, drew parallels between the plight of sufferers and her own struggle for democracy at the launch on World AIDS Day of a new "zero discrimination" campaign and a conference to be held in Australia in July.

"The fight against discrimination is an extension of our fight for freedom from fear," said the Myanmar opposition leader and democracy icon said on Sunday, using the title of a famous essay she wrote.

"My simple message as the global ambassador for zero discrimination is it all starts in the mind and in the heart. There must be less calculation and more warmth, more love, more affection, more compassion.

Suu Kyi and UNAIDS director Michael Sidibe unveiled a new campaign Sunday targeting prejudice against HIV/AIDS sufferers, with the world's first Zero Discrimination Day to be held on March 1, 2014.

Sidibe said scientific breakthroughs and visionary leadership meant there was now an end in sight to "an epidemic that has wrought such staggering devastation around the world".

"But make no mistake, stigma, denial and complacency are still among us, putting us in danger of failing the next generation," he said.

The pair were speaking in Melbourne at the Australian launch of AIDS 2014, a major global health and policy conference to be held in the city in July with 14,000 delegates from almost 200 countries.

Sharon Lewin, an infectious diseases professor and co-chair of AIDS 2014, said there had been substantial progress in the global response to HIV.

A total of 25 countries -- many in sub-Saharan Africa -- reported a 50 percent reduction in new infections last year due to increased availability of treatments.

But Lewin said there were still at-risk populations not seeking help and places where new diagnoses were increasing, including in Australia where young men were having unprotected sex with men due to complacency about the disease.

"In the '80s to the mid-90s, HIV was an incredibly scary prospect -- no treatment, enormous stigma and discrimination, early death," Lewin told AFP of the disease which was first identified some 30 years ago.

"It's not as scary any more but it's still a significant chronic illness that has a big impact on people's lives."

Last year 1.6 million people died from AIDS-related causes, down from 1.8 million in 2011 and 2.3 million in 2005, according to the United Nations.

In its annual report on the state of the global pandemic released in September, UNAIDS said new HIV infections had plummeted by a third overall since 2001 and more than halved among children.

But Lewin said the world was at a crossroads with HIV.

"We have come so far and there have been so many successes," she said. "But still there are so many challenges, the biggest being that we know what works, but yet we still can't broadly implement it."

Question: Dear Kryon, as the Universe transforms in this period of ascension/transition, why does it appear that little spiritual attention is focused on the African continent? While there has certainly been a religious awakening largely due to the circumstances that souls choose (for example, poverty, HIV/AIDS, etc.), this is being translated quite slowly into spirituality (my perception).

What is your information on the state of spiritual awakening on the African continent?

Answer: Dear one, this question is perhaps the best one you could have asked for your time. Indeed, it appears that the African situation is dichotomous to an awakening Earth. For a full explanation, you have to go back to information we presented 12 years ago [Kryon Book One, 1989]. We told you back then that there was a potential that showed that in order for your planet to move forward at the rate it was appearing to, up to one percent of the population might have to leave. This was startling information to most of you, and some wondered how and where this might begin. A disaster, perhaps? A comet strike? Now, as you know, the Humans on the African continent are currently losing their lives by the tens of millions. In addition, the life expectancy is bleak for at least the next decade . . . perhaps the next full generation! Your disease called AIDS is seemingly fulfilling this prophecy.

What this might mean to you is that the prediction given to you about your transition is now upon you, and all you can do is sit back and watch it occur in horror. What we have channelled to you recently, however, is that nothing could be further from your reality, or your 2001 potential. Instead, we have reported to you that since the 1989 potentials, you have far exceeded the energy for the year 2001 beyond that which was expected. What this means is that now the prophecy does not have to occur at all! What you are seeing, however, is the setup for the old potential still in progress, without knowledge that it is not needed.

Remember that death of any kind is abhorrent to you. We don’t expect you to understand how such a thing could have helped Spirit or Earth, but on a grander scale, it would have. An entire generation of Humanity came in with this expectation and knowledge, and they had agreements to leave early. It is this African family that you may now turn your attention to, for they have the opportunity to void this entire contract and remain in health.

This African continent is not in a state of spiritual awakening. They are instead in survival mode, plowing through an outdated spiritual potential. What can you do? Visualize the change in this scenario! You just changed the very time frame of Earth itself, so changing the energy of this one place is well within your ability! Visualize them happy, with families intact, fed, healthy, with the potential for life and joy. The energy you can develop in these visualizations can nullify the scenario that is there . . . totally! You can change the leaders’ minds, quicken the ability for science to reach those it needs to, and even change the reality of the disease itself. All these things we tell you, lightworker, since this is the work that you have asked to do. Your visualizations create a light that shines into the dark places of consciousness, or science, and of hope itself. You still don’t understand the potential of your energy! Is it worth two minutes a day? Perhaps three? Each day, consider this.

Blessed indeed is the awakening lightworker who is free from worry about death and who is not constantly hungry. For this Human has the ability to use his energy to help those who are ready to blossom into their own spiritual awakening, but who are currently consumed with an old contract of death and disease. The few may help the many, and the many may remain to help the earth in other ways. This is what family does for family. Believe it!

Strange Fibres Found Embedded Inside Chicken McNuggets

This video speaks for itself in that McDonald’s chicken McNuggets seem to contain some strange ingredients and substances that currently have no explanation. Health Ranger Mike Adams purchased a 10-piece chicken McNugget meal from a McDonald’s restaurant and decided to examine them under carefully controlled conditions using a high-powered digital microscope. What he found was quite interesting as you will note in the video below.

NOTE: Before you comment, no this is not supposed to be some in depth scientific experiment. No he does not test to determine what the fibres are. His goal was simply to find out what was inside the nuggets and he shares what he found. That’s it.

Through his observations, not only did he find weird fibre like objects, but there were a number of odd colors including a blue egg shaped object that resembled an antifreeze like glob.

What are these strange ingredients? We do not know. We also do not know if they are safe or unsafe to consume as not much is known about them. However, these mysterious ingredients are another great reason why we should avoid processed foods and stick with fresh, clean foods.

(39) Question: Dear Kryon: I've noticed how many children are developing severe allergies to foods (my daughter included). When I've researched this, it seems that most of the allergies are essentially to seeds, grains, legumes, eggs, and dairy. I've noticed that these foods all hold the potential for life, or in the case of dairy, are essentially used to sustain the first stages of life in an animal's baby. My feeling is that because we're not releasing the life force within these foods (that is, sprouting, etc.), they're becoming harmful to us. I would like your impressions of this.

Answer: For thousands of years, these foods have worked for humanity. In these cases you speak about, the main culprit continues to be the way in which these foods are collected and processed. You won't find these allergies in third-world countries, and you won't find them within the children who work on farms, where they eat the foods directly. There will eventually have to come a day when you relax some of your efficiency attributes and go back to the way food was meant to be collected and eaten. And yes... there are effects from how the dairy animals are treated, too. Going back to some basics will help, and so will eliminating some of the procedures that supposedly create a "safer food." These procedures have instead made them begin to look like foreign food to the Human body.


(15) Question: Dear Kryon, please help us understand the increase of allergies. What can we do to heal this phenomenon?

Answer: Reduce the steps in your food chain, which are adding chemistry to fresh food.


(13) Question: Dear Kryon, I’m very concerned about the obesity epidemic, particularly in the U.S. Around me I see people getting bigger and more unhealthy, all for the sake of convenience and saving time. You mentioned at one point a famine, and I suspect the famine won’t be from a lack of food, but from an abundance of food that has no nutritional value.

I wonder how we can honor the Earth by eating nothing that comes straight from it? Of course this involves caring for the lands and oceans as part of a bigger issue and making that connection, too. Is this what it will finally take for people to switch to a healthier way of living?

Its amazing how detached people are from the food they eat. We don’t even honor our digestive processes, the way we combine foods. Whatever happened to nutrition? Atkins is no solution; there is no balance in it. Gastric bypass is all about quantity reduction, not quality increase. When will people make the direct connection between what/how they eat and their health? Is a change in diet and lifestyle part of the upcoming shift?

Answer: The shift has little to do with it. It’s a culture-specific problem and has to do with consciousness of health. Go study the cultures on your planet that have very few overweight Humans. Start with the Japanese. They have some of the same western work ethics and live in very sophisticated industrial-based environments. Yet they aren’t overweight. It’s about the core food groups and the combination of them.
