JAKARTA (Jakarta Post): Police have busted an international drug syndicate, arresting five people and confiscating from them hundreds thousand ecstasy pills, Metro TV reported.
The station said a drug squad from national police headquarter arrested the perpetrators from several apartments in West Jakarta area after two month of intensive investigation.
Two of the perpetrators were from Malaysia, identified as Lim Jit Wei, 41, Chua Lik Chang, 52, police said.
Lim was arrested on Nov. 10 at a room in Mediterania Apartment in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta with a total of 11,000 ecstasy pills and cash of Rp 940 million (US$104,400) and S$25,000 (US$ 17,350).
Police said Chua was arrested on Wednesday in Taman Anggrek Apartment, also in West Jakarta, with a total of 470,000 ecstasy pills.
The director of narcotics and organized crime division at the national police headquarter Brig. Gen Indradi Thanos said they were seeking help from Interpol to seizing two other Malaysians allegedly being masterminds of the syndicate.
