TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Corruption Eradication Commission issued a request to the Justice Ministry to block six people being investigated in a corruption charges from leaving the country. Two of the six persons had been named suspects..
Former Health Minister Ahmad Suyudi holding the post from 2000-2004 is one among the six people. The other five are former Director General for Medical Services Achmad Hardiman, Director General for Medical Services Sri Astuti, two former directors of the state-owned Kimia Farma, Gunawan Pranoto and Suharno, and Rinaldi Yusuf director of PT Rifa Jaya Mandiri.
Director of the Investigation in the Imigration Section at the Justice and Human Rights Ministry, R. Muchdor said the ban starts on March 17th and will be in effect for one year.
In 2003 the Health Ministry began a project to provide health equipments, primarily x-ray equipments, for small hospitals in eastern Indonesia. The project valued at about Rp 15,7 billion which allegedly being marked up, with state losses predicted at Rp 4,8 billion.
