TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The House of Representatives (DPR) People’s Welfare Commission plans to complete and ratify the micro financial institutions draft bill next year.
“All factions agree to complete the law in 2010,” said a member of the people’s welfare commission, Edhy Prabowo, last week in Jakarta.
If the draft is ratified, micro financial institutions will have an umbrella law to support the development of the micro business sector.
According to Edhy, the micro business sector faces the usual never-ending problems of financing. The new state degree is expected to solve this problem and to pay more attention to this sector.
Those present also said they believed that the new degree will push the development of micro, small and medium enterprises.
Previously, the Central Bank hoped that the micro financial institutions degree would be ratified immediately so that these institutions would have a clear umbrella law.
Central Bank deputy governor Mulyaman D. Hadad said that micro business entrepreneurs have been having difficulties getting capital because they are considered to not have fulfilled the requirements to get credit.
“Whereas they need financing for their business,”he said.
